Peremoha / Victory

It has been 728 days since the full scale invasion of Ukraine.

‘Peremoha’

The photo was taken in the village of Peremoha about an hour east of Kyiv, whilst visiting my parents in law.

Peremoha means Victory.

Just a week after the full scale invasion, the village was occupied for nearly 6 weeks by the invading russian army; shops and houses destroyed and those who attempted to escape were shot.

When they left they placed landmines throughout the roads and fields.

Back before all of this, soon after this photograph was made whilst out walking with my wife and my mother in law, a huge storm arrived and I remember fondly my father in law cycling out along the pathway to ‘rescue’ us.

It’s a place we long to return to. We hope that soon, we will.

Over the last 2 years through my various print offers and signed copies of our book on Ukraine we have raised close to £10,000 that has supported countless people both inside and now displaced from Ukraine with help for housing, food, bills, equipment and general support when they needed it most.
